CP Products' Swivel - their newest product and the reason for their latest AWARD (July 2006)

"For the second time in as many years, CP Products Company received an  AE50 Award fro design innovation from the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers.  It was presented at the ASABE Annual International Meeting in Portland Oregon on July 10th.

CP's Swivel, designed for agricultural aircraft booms, received the award for outstanding innovation in product or system technology.

CP Products has been honored by ASABE for new products two years in a row!  The CP Swivel, a collaborative effort between CP Products Company and one of its original founders, Chris Christopher, is just one of several new products under development."

More about the Swivel:

Many operators are utilizing flat fan nozzles.

The narrow angle (25 & 40 degree) flat fan nozzles have excellent droplet spectrum control with many having Relative Span (RS) less than one. RS is a measure of how closely all the droplets are centered around the VMD.

Smaller RS values typically have fewer smaller droplets - which may drift or evaporate, and very large droplets - which may not provide adequate canopy coverage.

06swivel The CP-06 Swivel may be utilized with almost any flat fan or straight stream nozzle to enhance operator control of the droplet spectrum.

This Swivel has the abilitiy to change from 0-degrees to 90-degrees of nozzle orientation in 15-degree detented increments.

The CP Swivel is designed to change flat fan nozzle shear angles, allowing pilots to fine tune applications for several droplet sizes using a single flat fan tip, pressure and airspeed.

Adjustments may be easily made for large droplets and herbicide drift control to the smaller droplet spectrum required for fungicides and insecticides.  Current computer models developed by the USDA-ARS research facility at College Station Texas allow pilots to quickly input individual parameters and determine optimum angle settings.  Email us if you wish a copy of these files or visit www.cpproductsinc.com for the online files.

Will the swivel work in your operation? It is essential to utilize the models available to predict how to set up nozzles for the desired droplet spectrum.  These allow one to evaluate nozzles, orifice size, pressure, orientation, and airspeed combinations.
These models may also be utilized to determine which nozzles have the lowest RS and whether they comply with label droplet spectrum specifics.

Cheryl at Yorkton Aircraft is familiar with using these models and is more than willing to help you outfit your operation properly.
